Season 2
Season two of the series focuses on the king’s second marriage with Anne Boleyn. As he takes the decision of leaving Catherine and going for a second marriage with Anne, the church is all against him. He ultimately decides the ultimate head of Church of England will be the king itself. With all this going on, Henry VIII looses out on his patience and secretly marries Anne, who was pregnant at that time. Henry VIII is thoroughly disappointed, when Anne gives birth to girl child, as Henry VIII was all obsessed with having a male child. In between he also gets the news of death of his first wife Catherine. As Anne was also not able to give a male heir to the throne, Henry VIII starts loosing out interest on her and his new lady love is Lady Jane Seymour. Despite Anne’s desperate efforts to save her marriage, she was not able to keep Henry VIII happy, especially after two miscarriages.
The season ends with Anne Boleyn’s beheading, after she was accused of adultery and the entrance of Seymour family in the court. In the last episode of the season Henry VIII proposes to Jane Seymour for marriage and he declares his marriage to Anne Boleyn as null and void.
The second season in general is all full of King’s marital life and problems, with little focus on court and political side of his term.
