Season 1
The season one of the series focuses on King Henry VIII conflicts, both in his personal life and his ability to rule the nation. Henry VIII from the beginning of the series is all obsessed with himself, regarding his failure so far to produce a male heir. He decides to give divorce to his first wife Katherine of Aragon, and thinks of courting Anne Boleyn. But all his dreams are held as the church doesn’t let him do so and he ultimately decides to take the power of church in his own hands.
With all the personal chaos like such going on, the series also focuses on the international conflicts that were going on during that period. Henry VIII was set up to take revenge of his uncle’s murder and get back the rule of France. But ends up signing a peace treaty with King Francis of France, under the guidance of his court, who were all full of their personal motives.
Season one mainly focuses on the King’s clash with his inner self, as he was not able to produce a male heir and thinks that it is probably God’s punishment to him. Also how he gets attracted towards Anne Boleyn. The season also focuses on his controversies with the church, regarding his divorce with Katherine of Aragon.
