Who can come in the way of a raging monarch? Confused! I am referring to Jonathan Rhys-Meyers, who is acting brilliantly as Henry VIII in “The Tudors“. This actor was detained by police after he was involved in a mild brawl at “Le Quotidien” bar at Paris airport. This whole incident took place on Saturday, June 20th.

“The Tudor” TV show star looked to be in a drunken state and when the bartender at “Le Quotidien” bar at Paris airport took notice of this fact, he refused to serve him. This got Jonathan Rhys-Meyers in a total state of rage. This culminated into a shouting fight by the actor with the bar’s manager. To prevent this from turning into a major fist fight, one of the employees at the bar intervened and “The Tudors” actor ended up punching that employee. The police got into the action and the actor had to spend several hours in custody.
News regarding actors’ inappropriate behavior, fist fights, and drug addiction issues are on the rise by the day and “The Tudor” TV show actor Jonathan Rhys-Meyers is now the new name on this list. I loved Jonathan Rhys-Meyers performance in “The Tudor” as King Henry VIII. When I see his mature and dynamic acting on this TV show I could not believe that he can also be short tempered.

On second thought, Jonathan Rhys-Meyers must be managing tight shooting schedules, giving interviews often, making public appearances, he must definitely involved in photo shoots along with other activities associated with an actors busy life. This produces stress which makes the celebrities turn to intoxicants which results in inexplicable rage sometimes. The Tudors really has helped us to have a good peek into the history of England. Personally, I had many misconceptions about the personality of the great monarch Henry VIII but after watching the show the mists of doubts were cleared off from my mind.

Ever since season three of The Tudors has concluded, my children have been questioning me about the fresh air dates. When I came to learn about the news of season four coming up in spring 2010, I was able to ease their anxiety at least to some extent.

I have a strong view about television shows based on history. I feel that all the facts should be covered and then the shows should be ended at a proper time as otherwise the element of fiction has a chance of overriding the facts. Since The Tudors is also descriptive of the past, it seems like a perfectly justified decision by the producers of The Tudors to end it with upcoming season.

Hey guys! Seems like Jonathan Rhys Meyers, has not been able to shake off his drinking problem and perhaps that is why he has started attending a recovery centre in England. Jonathan, who has attempted treatment at a rehab, twice earlier also, is reportedly determined to kick his drink demons once and for all in this third attempt. Earlier he had attended the Promises in Malibu in 2005, where celebrities like Lindsay Lohan, Britney Spears and Tara Reid have also been treated. However, he returned to the rehab for a second stint in April 2007.

The 31 years old actor, who plays King Henry IV on the period drama, The Tudors Tv Show, has stated before that he started drinking only after he was 25 and since then this habit has been making people take notice of him as he starts behaving like a hopless 16-year-old kid.

According to a source from The Tudors, Jonathan is one of the nicest guys in the world and like every other person he has his own problems to face and he is putting up with the same as best as he can. Well, we surely love you Jonathan and we do hope that this time around you really are able to get rid of your drinking problems.

This weekend was very good for ‘The Tudors’ fans’ and the occasion was Irish Film and TV Awards, held in Dublin. This BBC series received six awards. Two of those were awarded to Peter O’Toole and Maria Doyle Kennedy, two leading characters, in the category of Best Supporting Actor and Actress in TV series. The remained four awards were received in the categories of best TV drama; best director; best costume design and best hair and make up etc. So, it did very well in the Irish Film and TV Awards.

Well, the news which I came to know recently made me think that ‘The Tudors’ is popular not only among the ordinary audience but celebrities are also fond of this superb series. Very recently, the Gossip Girl fame Serena expressed her keenness and liking for series. Cool… isn’t it! I love Gossip Girl and it’s nice to see my favorite actress loving my favorite TV show ‘The Tudors’.

I’ve been a huge fan of series since its premiere. Both seasons were very much entertaining  a lot and the second season finale was extremely good. Here, we saw Queen Anne waiting for her execution which at a later point, got postponed. King Henry proposed Jane Seymour, believing that she’s the lady who would give him a legitimate male heir.

Series’ star cast too attracted the stares of viewers. Jonathan Rhys Meyers as King Henry VIII, Henry Cavil as Charles Brandon, and Maria Doyle Kennedy portraying Queen Katherine entertained us a lot with their brilliant performance and we loved all these characters.

Wait, wait, wait… I’m really not sure whether it’s good news or a bad one … hahahha. But it’s explicitly sure that Joss Stone would not have any sex scenes on ‘The Tudors’ upcoming episodes. Joss Stone is playing Anne of Cleves, Henry VIII’s (Jonathan Rhys Meyer) fourth wife in the steamy US drama. She herself confirmed it saying “There’s no sex and that is a good thing. Thank God. I’d be very shy and very embarrassed about the whole thing to be honest – and quite nervous”.

Well, it may have shattered away the plans of those who’re expecting some more love making scenes of Henry VIII’ and his new love interest.

‘The Tudors’ has finished its second season and as of now, we’re expecting a third season of the show. No dates are confirmed by the network yet but we hope to get it soon as hope sustains life! We saw that Queen Anne is still behind bars in ‘The Tower’ and the only thing which she was waiting for is her execution. She wished to be executed by a special executioner and the king granted her wish to do so. The executioner failed to reach at the appointed time and it resulted in the postponement of execution. On the other hand, Henry visited Jane Seymour and proposed her for marriage. It’s also confirmed that Henry’s previous marriage to Anne had been proved null and void. Second season ended with Queen Anne’s decapitation.

Next in ‘The Tudors’ is the third season of the show. Well, I’ve set my sights on the upcoming episodes of the series and waiting eagerly for them. But, it’s really not fair not to add sex scenes of Anne of Cleves… what do you say?

In a website it was reported that Jonathan Rhys Meyers would be bidding farewell to The Tudors after finishing out with the current series. According to the report, he has already decided that he will not be returning even if there is a new season for the series. The website further claimed that Jonathan who has been playing the main character of King Henry VIII has really enjoyed the role but was feeling that he needed to move on. It was also reported that Jonathan’s decision came in the wake of the fact that he was supposed to do a movie with John Travolta in which he played a major role. Although the news has not been confirmed by Rhys as yet, still the doubt has cast a huge shadow on the future of The Tudors. It will be really difficult to replace Rhys who has been playing the role of King Henry perfectly well. Even if he is replaced, I really doubt if the series will be able to retain its charm as the audience will have to associate a new face with the central character.

The series which is a period drama based on the lavish, turbulent and extremely sexual life of King Henry VIII is one of finest epic shows on television. It also highlights the other side of King Henry where he is desperate for a male child to bring back power and glory to his country that is falling apart. It offers a different view of the events that occurred nearly 500 years ago.

Although many historians rightfully accused the creators of distorting the fact, still it managed to gain huge appreciation among the audiences. I hope the news about Rhys exit turns out to be false and the show continues to entertain us for many more years to come.

I just love this royal drama, and this news made me more curious for the third season. The third season is bringing with lot many pleasant surprises for its fans. It is already reported that Grammy Winner singer Joss Stone is coming in the role of Henry VII’s fourth wife Anne of Cleves. She will appear in at least three episodes out of total eight in the third season.

The latest buzz is it’s time to welcome another bright star on our favorite show. This is Swedish film actor Max Von Sydow. He has got cool looks and will perfectly suit the role of a royal deity. He’s gonna appear in four episodes, unlike Joss. He will play Cardinal Von Waldburg.

Cardinal is a German- born Catholic Clergyman, who tries to make sure the defeat of Henry VII (Jonathan Rhys Meyers). His family is killed by protestant revolutionaries. He can be also described as s fearsome intellectual, in fact he is appointed by the Pope to head their first interrogation, which was the crushing of the Reformation.

Let’s see with the new cast this season what new color is being added. To be very honest I watch this series just because of Jonathan Rhys Meyers. I like his acting, his role, his face expressions, his personality and what not? In real life too he’s a pretty open-minded and outspoken personality, what I like the most about him.

Recently, I read his interview with buddy TV. He opined about the real life royals. He says people should be sympathetic towards royal members. Nonetheless Royal members too should keep in mind that they are demigod for people, because they are royals and not the ordinary ones. He gave instance of Prince Harry, who loves to hang out in night clubs until morning like other youngsters of his age and that makes news. Because he’s born in royal family, he’s not allowed to do so, that’s why people should have a little sympathy for them.

I am desperately waiting to watch this wonderful man once again. Nonetheless, we can watch him in movies like ‘Shelter’ and ‘Mandrake’ in 2009. Still, he’ll be never as charming to me ever again as in “The Tudors”.

Fans have all loved the show. Completely in love with the way the story has been written and the well knitted plot has attracted the viewers most. Though the series out looks on a lot of historical details, and the king is shown too young and that his costumes are all wrong. Still the show is doing well, as it is entertaining and has been produced fantastically. All in all the star cast of the show is also one big factor for the success of the show. And anyways as the sole purpose of television is entertainment and the series has definitely been able to glue its viewers. And the minute details are definitely not affecting the viewers in any big way.

But the details are definitely bothering the critics, a bit too much. They are of the view that the series is not living up to the expectations of a historical series and production team is some what playing with the facts. They are also of the view that the whole serious theme of that era has ended being a simple personal and erotic power. But as all is in the hands of the viewers, and the audience is liking the show, and the series is doing well for every one.

On 26 August, 2008 it was announced by The Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television that the Company’s television series was honored with twelve nominations.

The series has also been credited with two Emmy Award nominations in July 2008. The first season of the series also fished four Emmy Awards.
